The Sonoran Pirates (aka Son-Rats) is a team of mountain bikers from AZ, MI, CA, CO, MD, PA, UT, TX, ID & The U.K. The team was established in 2004.
Across the ranks they try and hold true to their fundamental belief that...
"the only thing that matters is that you ride... not how fast you ride... nor the gear upon which you ride."

Three Women - Three Bikes - No Limits
Two of our femme Pirates, plus another young lady, will be riding from MD to WI to attend Trek World. Big D, Karyn and Sarah will depart 21 July and plan to arrive 12 Aug in Madison, WI. The ride is just over 900 miles plus a ferry ride across Lake Michigan. The details of preparation and a chronicle of their journey will be maintained at the website below. There's a blog, route map, and other resources and once they get going we'll have a page for pictures, fun stories that are worth telling, and more.
Please give Diana, Karyn, and Sarah all the support you can. This is no little undertaking.

who pays for the post-ride lagers?
This is how two blokes from the Sonoran Pirates chapter in England settle up who is going to pay for the post ride lager. I think the skinny chap won. Just saying.

FS: 26" Voodoo Canzo (Large - 19") $1100 OBO
I picked up the frame NOS (new old stock) on eBay last year. I built it up for my cousin to ride in the 2012 24 In the Old Pueblo (which was in Feb). I replaced the Rock Shox Monarch rear shock with a Fox RP2. The bike is in good shape. It's a mix of mostly new with some slightly used parts. The front fork is a Manitou R7 that is still smooth but I suspect it will need to be serviced and some new seals within the next six months.

Ben (from Ben's Bikes) just got a new ride and is parting with his old bike. It's in good shape and was maintained by Ben (who is a bike mechanic).
It has Bontrager carbon handle bars and seat post... otherwise it's a stock build. You can check out the stock specs here... '08 Trek Fuel EX9
If you are interested call Ben @ (520) 549-3050 and tell him Large Marge sent ya.

Who are The Sonoran Pirates?
We love bikes. Mountain, Single Speed, Cyclocross, Road, BMX, Tandem, Push, Unicycle, Tricycle, Downhill, Dirt Jump, Touring, Fixie, & many others. Some of us are fast; most of us are not. We dig like minded people. Some of us sit down to pee. Some of us stand up to pee. We drink beer. We dig entities that make bicycling more rad, like... Epic Rides, Race Pace Bicylces, Arizona Trail Association, and IMBA.
We are NOT exclusive. Ride, smile... and you are with us.

The Touring Pickle
We learned a ton this weekend, both things to do and things not to do...and vetted a lot of our expectations one way or another. I'm going to be posting a lot about this as we continue, so to avoid clogging up the Pirates page, I've started new blog dedicated to just our touring escapades.
You can read the whole story over at Little Rays Touring Blog
Enjoy.

Strava Online
Pirates!
If you have a GPS enabled device for your bike, Android, or iPhone you should be part of Strava.com, I have created a Sonoran Pirate Group on this site. To summarize what this site is if you do not know it is a site where you upload your physical activity you do and it runs comparisons of the other members who have done the same kind of activity. It compares segments of your rides and tells you your performance and ranking for the locations you are riding. I strongly recommend all Pirates join up. Sooo Motivating!
Once we get more members up and running on the site and joined in the club we can place an activity tracker on the pirates site.
Happy trails!
